I have been gathering bits and pieces of information to help my son-in-law with his ancestry. His last name is Leeman but the original Swiss spelling is Leemann.
His great grandfather Rudolf Leemann (b. 1897) and wife Lina (Kuriger) Leeman traveled from Switzerland to Buenos Aires then to Paraguay according to 1921 Swiss emmigration papers. Family says he was a cattle herder in South America. Two children were born in Argentina then they left and moved back to Switzerland before coming to the US to live.
In my fact gathering I was able to find Swiss emmigration papers for other Leemans heading to South America but the ones that may be of interest to you are the following:
Robert Leemann of Zurich, Switzerland (b. 1861) and Barbara Leemann of the same location (b. 1871) left Switzerland in 1931 with a desination of Montevideo (which I believe is Uraguay).
Perhaps these LEEMANN passengers to South America are related and we may be able to help one another.
On the 1895 Argentina census I did locate "a" Rudolfo Leman, blacksmith, born Zurich, Switzerland. He was 41 years of age and married to Maria with children. I am very interested in his identity.
