Your "Lancaster area" is Hopewell Township, York County, PA.

Your great-grandfather, born May 4, 1820, was the second son of John (1794-1878) and Mary (Purkey) Leib (1798-1879) they are both buried in the local cemetary opposite the house and farm they lived in, unfortunately since torn down last year. Your great-great-grandfather, John Leib (1794-1878) was the thirdborn son of your great-great-great-grandparents, Christian (the elder) and Barbra (Keller)Leib who owned my house- farmers who were the largest landowners in Hopewell Township in their time.

Your great-grandfather, Christian (of John), was a carpenter who owned a few houses in town (Stewartstown) but fell into financial difficulties at some point around 1855 +/-. I have more info on him, but since I was tracking Christian (of C) I'm not as familiar with it- I'll look for it, though- it's inventories, etc. It wasn't uncommon for people to lose everything on a bad deal/loan, etc- that's the way the world worked.

I have John A. (1844-?), Henry A. (1846-?), Levi M. (1848-?), and Richard (1849-?). which one did you descend from? Can you fill in some of the blanks from them to you?

I guess since I have so much info on a lot of your early descendants, I might as well fill out the tree. Your relations (Christian (of J)) are in the US Census, 1850 by name, 1860(?).

Sue Auman is your relation from your great-greatgrandfather John Leib, she is the descendant of Moses Leib, brother to your great-grandfather Christian (of J).
