Hello, I am a 7th generation Leib....I was hoping to get information or pointed in the right direction. Ancestor's american name was John Wesley Leap or Leep, German name I think might have been Johan Vishlin Leib or some variation.

He died in Indiana in 1845, I am trying to find him and his family across the pond around Mannheim, Germany. Not sure of his birthdate, may have been 1745, 1733 or 1735. His family may have been vinters. would like to also know if his background was at any time Ashkenazic, maybe even in some previous generation. Thank you for any help!
