John, who "died on the road back from TX"
Does anyone have a John Lemmon who died on the road back from Texas before 1837?I have the transcript of a letter from Ann Galloway Lemon/Lemmon to her parents, Robert & Mary Lemon of Columbia, Boone Co., MO.Ann & husband John Galloway lived in Fountain Co., IN, and on October 11, 1837, wrote:
"Onnered Father and Mother we take this oppertunity of riting a few lins to let you no that throo the blising of God we injoy good helth at present hoping these may find you in good helth.Ruth died on thirtieth of november lastshe had been married better than a yereshe married a man by the name of hopkinspolly ann and family is well she has got three daughters Ann Elizabeth and Marywe have not herd from you sins rachel rote to us we herd that brother John Lemmon was ded he died on the rode coming home from taxesuncle Hugh Dicky and aunt Peggh was to see us this summer they were well uncle Billy was wellwe have not herd from mother but the last acount we had she had got crippled by a fall and they did not think she ever wood be able to walk againCozzen John Lemmon from Virginia lives in about twenty miles of ushe has been to see us he has all his family with him but onenow as I expect that Jinnerel Osborn will be the barer of ths letter he can tel you how we are and how we are a doing better than we can right no more but remain
your affectionate son and daughter til deth"
I'm trying to figure out who the two John Lemmons she mentions are.If anyone has an idea, please let me know.
