Tom--this should help you a little when it comes to headstones.
James Lemmon (Washington's messanger boy) was b 1763 MD d 4 Jul 1867 Dallas TX.He would have been approx 13 years old in 1776.Robert Lemmon, James' father served in the French and Indian War, and the Revolution.James Lemmon did have a son James Lemmon 1837-1838.
The James Lemmon kia Battle of Brandywine only has a death date and of course that is 1777.
