Lenoirs in America before 1730
In an effort to establish the father of Thomas Lenoir (c.1700-1765, I have attempted to identify all Lenoirs documented to be in America before 1730, as follows:
1."Ralph Lenor" appears as headright in 1666 in Gloucester Co., VA.No further information.
2."Isaac Lenoir" was in SC, MA, NY and PA in 1687-1708.Wife:Ann.Son:Isaac.Daughter:Ann.Possible son: Thomas?
3."John Leonar" witnessed a deed in Henrico Co., VA in 1708.No further information.
4."John Lenoir" married Mary Newman in 1722 in Charles Co., MD.He died by 1725.No further information.
5."John Lenoir" of Barbados owned land in SC in 1725.Died in Barbados.Wife:Martha.Son:Robert.
6."Mrs. Robert Lenoir" died in Boston in 1730.No further information.
Thomas Lenoir (c.1700-1765) could have been an immigrant to VA as his record starts with land in Brunswick Co., VA in 1730's. Echoes of Happy Valley (1962) cites a family story that Thomas Lenoir was "a French soldier who came to the colonies" and met his future wife in VA.
Any information on these or other pre-1730 Lenoirs would be appreciated.I would be glad to exchange sources.
