'Tis hard to break the tender cord,
When love has bound the heart;
'Tis hard, so hard to speak the word,
Must we forever part.
Dearest loved one we've laid thee
In the peaceful grave's embrace,
But thy memory will be cherished
'Till we see they Heavenly face.
Sweet mother thou art gone;
The work has well been blest;
An angel came and hushed thy voice
And bore thee home to rest.
Sad hearts remain at home;
Will miss thee whom we love;
We'll meet thee by and by
In that sweet home above.
