Your posting on genforum was like hitting the "mother load" answer to a BIG mystery: wo carved those bookends in my wife's family! At last you have provided the answer. Here is the hitch (as it would be said). Ruth the daughter of Charles married Herman Litschert. Herman's son John is the father of my wife. Recently I found Charles on the 1920 census in Phili, PA. I'll e-mail you the image if you would like. Anyway, there are these bookends that we have been trying to figure out who carved them. Know we know.
