The more commonly used spelling of this name is Lippard, pronounced leopard or to rhyme with reward.According to Col. Delmas V. Lippard, The Lippard Family can trace its ancestry directly to the port of Philadelphia, PA.Conrad Lippard (born 1680), his wife and daughter Anna Martin, his son William (born 1699), and William's sons John (born 1734) and Christian (born 1736) and an infant Magdalena arrived in Philadelphia September 16, 1738.The family migrated to North Carolina in 1757.In 1988, a Lippard Family Celebration was held in and near Philadelphia to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the arrival of Conrad Lippard and Catherine, the patriarch and matriarch of the Lippard Family in North America.
