My grandfather's name is Edmund Lepine. Family legend tells us that we had an ancestor last name: Chevalier/Chevaudier (sp?) that moved from France to Canada in the 1600s. He joined the army & apparently was a lot of trouble. An army officer nicknamed him "The Thorn"/ "Lepine". And that is how we have the Lepine name.I can not prove this, but hope to research more & find the truth.
