De La Spine LePine 1598 France England

Hi
Can any one help Me?

I am trying to trace my family tree from France. Our family left France around 1598, around the Battle of St Bartholomew. Their name was De La Spine. We have information that the direct members of the family went to England where they altered their name to La Spine then Le Pine we think.

The 3 brothers that we know of who left France were named Guillamme, Daniel and Jacob.
They crossed the Channel to England and settled in the Parish of Holycross, Westgate in the City of Canterbury. They then joined the French Walloons Church.

Guillamme De La Spine erected a silk weaving factory built near the St. of St Peter and employed 100 men. Sons and daughters were baptised in the Walloon Church in the reign of King William and Queen Mary. The son of Guillamme altered the name to Willam La Spine and then to LePine.

We have this information from a old hand written history but it ends mid sentence.
The family later as Le Pines emigrated to New Zealand.

Other family we know of were in England (1800ís) and emigrated to NZ. We believe they married in England. They were William LePine and Emma Willet Strange.

My Grandmother was a Le Pine.

Thanks
Donna-Rose McKay
