The Ochlocknee Rifles of Cairo, Grady County, Georgia USA, a division of the "Sons Of Confederate Veterans" (SOCV) have set the date for the funeral of PVT. THOMAS A. KINCHEN on JAHUARY 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM. This will take place at PROVIDENCE CEMETERY, located about 4 miles southwest of Cairo, GA and about 4 miles southeast of Whigham, GA.
MR. KINCHEN was originally buried in the center of a very large farm field in 1904 in what was once DECATUR COUNTY, GEORGIA but was altered in 1906 when the State Legislature created GRADY COUNTY out of portions of THOMAS & DECATUR COUNTIES. Distanced from any roads, the original graves of MR. KINCHEN and his widowed wife ANNIE SASSER KINCHEN LETCHWORTH were in danger of being destroyed by weather, farm equipment, or other means. Both will be relocated to a well-kept, safer PROVIDENCE CEMETERY located just off PROVIDENCE ROAD, and a service with honors will take place.
Again, this will take place at PROVIDENCE CEMETERY in GRADY COUNTY, GEORGIA on JANUARY 12, 2013. Any and all are welcome to attend the burial service of this Civil War Veteran.
