The following information is from 'Children of the Rivers' Volume 1 and 2, by Heather M. Hallett:
Joseph Azarie Letendre was born at Batoche, Saskatchewan, on Dec 5, 1885. He was baptised there at St. Antoine de Padue, the Roman Catholic church at Batoche, on April 23, 1886. His parents were Francois Xavier dit Batoche Letendre, and Marguerite Parenteau. His godparents were Baptiste and Rosalie Letendre. Joseph was literate and received Halfbreed Scrip of $240.00. on June 26, 1900.Joseph married Rose Elmire Parenteau at Batoche on Oct 25, 1906. Their witnesses were Louis Letendre and Pierre Parenteau. Rose Elmire was the daughter of Patrice Parenteau and Philomene Vallee. She was born on July 8, 1889. Joseph died at Batoche 1911. It is thought that Rose Elmire remarried to Alexandre Barthelemy Massoz at the Roman Catholic Church in Bellevue, Saskatchewan on Nov 29, 1912.
Children: Henry Joseph Letendre, b Aug 6, 1907. He was baptised at St. Antoine de Padue the same day. His godparents were Joseph Parenteau and Marie Desrivier Parenteau. Another church record says he was baptised at Fish Creek, Saskatchewan.
Marie Bertha Letendre, was born at Batoche, on Jun 27, 1909. She was baptised at St. Antoine de Padue on July 4, 1909. Her godparents were Henri Poitras and Delphine Parenteau. Bertha married Alvin Parkink.
These two books have lots and lots of information on the descendants of Henry Hallett, fur trader, which includes the
Parenteau and Letendre families.
