In May of this year, I began a search of my Letson roots. I have reason to believe that we are of the NJ line. Shrewsbury Township being the site of Mary's and Nathan's marriage makes it likely that both were from northeast NJ. There are several Marys in the early NJ line but the only one where the time frame is reasonable is Mary the daughter of William Warren Letson and Esther Sittwell. I do not have the date of this marriage nor do I have the dob for Mary. William Warren Letson is born 23 Sept 1730 and the birth year for Esther is 1739.If Esther marries Somewhere between her nineteenth and twenty-first year and Mary is her first child then Marry would in 1778 be somewhere between eighteen and twenty years of age. This is somewhat young and there are several ifs. however it is possible that this is the Mary who marries your male ancestor, Nathan Jackson.
One of William Warren Letson's sons is John Warren who serves in The Revolutionary War togther with Thomas Letson b.16 May1756 husband to Lydia Jackson son of Thomas Letson b.21 Oct 1725 marrying Elizabeth White.DAR records has Thomas listed as William Thomas.I am not certain of the relationship between William Warren (1730) and Thomas (1725) but they could be brothers or first cousins. One source lists the father and mother for William W. Letson as being another Thomas b. 1700 and another Elizabeth. It appears that Thomas (1725) and William W. resided in the same area of norteast NJ.
Hope this information will of use. If at sometime you are able to confirm this info. or find other or facts, please share this information with us.
