Hello! Welcome to the Leunis/Leynes Genforum site.
My grandfather was Geroge Robert Leynes, he was born in Waldenburg, Saxony, Germany on 27 December 1867. His parents were George Ernst Robert Leunis born about 1844 in Germany. He married first Ida Anna Wildeck on 16 June 1867 (she was born 9 June 1842 in Germany and died 14 April 1875 in Germany)and then her sister Anna Ida Wildeck.
He and his second wife came to the USA and at the place of their arrival had their name Americanized the Leynes. The family came from New York to Florida. The family lived for a while in Putnam County, Florida where they were naturalized and then moved to Citrus County, Florida after a big freeze killed orange groves that they had planted.
I have more information on the family that I'll put in other messages but wanted to get this site started.

I know that the family was just a couple of generations in Waldenburg and may have been in Hannover, Germany and maybe Belgium or the Netherlands before that. Would love to hear anything about anyone's knowledge of this family.

You may email me directly at ancientdiva@Yahoo.com or on this site.

Yours,

Carol Boyles Irvin
