Will of David Levy, Gentleman
In The Name of God Amen, I David Levy Gent'm. of Frederick Town County and State of Maryland being in perfect health of Body and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding considering the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time there of and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when shall please God to call me home do therefore make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following: That is to say - First and principally I commit my Soul unto the hands of Almighty God and my Body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors - herein after named, And after my Debts and Funeral charges are paid I devise and bequeath as follows - I Give and bequeath unto my beloved Mother Sarah Levy Twelve Pounds Sterling per year. That is to say Six Pounds like Money when the Spring Vessels[?] goes out from hence to London and Six Pounds like Money when the Fall Vessels[?] goes out and to be punctually complied with for her natural use during her Natural life.
I Give and bequest unto my beloved Wife, Barbara Two Rooms in the Dwelling House where she now resides and her bedding and her Negro Woman named Esther Coot [?] and as many of the Household furniture as she thinks necessary for her use and my Executor herein after named to give her s much Money as will Support her in Sundry necessaries as She Should require during her natural life and after her Dec. to be equally Divided among my Children herein after named - I Give and Bequeath unto my son David Levy the Three Story & Bick House with one half for the Lott with the appurtenances thereon lying in Patrick Street and adjoining the House now Occupied by Mr. James Neal which I have Deeded to him.
Then - I Devise and bequeath unto my son Jacob Levy, Sarah Geisinger, Valentine Levy, Samuel Levy, Abraham levy, Jonathon Levy and Rebecca Levy all the rest and residue of my Estate both real and Personal to be Equally Divided among my children within Described Equal Portion Share and Share alike but Especially my half lotts son Samuel is to have Twenty five Pounds more the any of the rest with his Equal share after my Decease one Year and in case either of them shall die without an heir Lawfall begotten then I give the Share of him or her in dying unto the Survivors of them to be equally Divided share and Share alike.
Then - I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth her Children herein named Mariah, Abraham, William and David, remembering my Grand Children or each of them the Sum of Forty Pounds each to be paid to them and each of them respectively when they come at their respective Ages of Day of marriage which shall first happen and I direct that the aforesaid Sums of Money to be put out to Interest on Bond with Good Securities after my Decease one Year by my Executors And that the profits arising there from be applied towards their Education and in case either of them shall die before the Ages of Twenty one or Marriage then I give the Share of him or her dying unto the Survivor of them.
And Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons David Levy and Jacob Levy to be Sole Executors of this my last will and Testament revoking and Annulling of Former Wills by my heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and Testament.
In Testimony where of I have here unto set my hand and applied my Seal this fifteenth day of January 1802.

Frederick County January 18, 1804, then came David Levy Gent'm. and Jacob Levy and made Oath on the Holy [?] angels of Almighty God that the aforegoing instrument of writing is the true whole will & Testament of David Levy late of Frederick County Diseased that hath come to their hands and possession and that they do not know of any other.

Frederick County January 18, 1804. Then came Joseph Walling and Henry Smith tow of the Subscribing Witnesses to the aforegoing last will and Testament of David Levy late of Frederick County Deceased and made Oath on the Hold Ev[?]angels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator Sign and Seal this will that they heard him Publish Pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their Apprehensions of a sound and disposing mind memory and understanding that they respectively Subscribed their names as the Witnesses to this will in the Presence and at the request of the Testator And that they did also see Henry Carbery the other Subscribing Witness Sign his name as a Witness to said will in the Presence and at the request of the Testator and all in the Presence of each other.
