Levys of New York, Late 1800's

I am looking for information on my great-gtandfather Marx Levy (the name we called him, although we can not be sure records do not list him as "Max"). He was born in New York, probably in 1870, but possible a fex years earlier or later. Marx died in either New York or New Jersey in 1943 or 1944, at approximately 73 years old. Marx had 2 children, Nelson (my grandfather) born 1898 in New York, and Milton, born in New York 3-5 years later.

He is believe to have as siblings Julia, Nathan, Albert, Alex, and some others that are not currently remembered. It is believed that their father's name was Bernard, and that he was also born in New York (although we are less clear about this). There was a cousin, Ceil or Celia, also of New York.

Julia married a man named Strauss or Straus, and had at least 2 children named Lillie (Liiian?) and Blanche. One of the other brothers had a son named Joseph.

It is believed that the family was originally Alsacian, although their arrival in the US appears to predate the 1850's.

Thank you for any information which you might have.

Thank you for any information.
