In my experience, in US records the name Levy has spellings of Levy, Levi and Lewi.

There is a Louis Levi, listed in the 1900 census, with a wife Lena. They have a daughter Frances born in about 1882 and sons Harry, born in about 1884, and Sidney, born in about 1885.

Alternatively, there is an Aron Lewi with a wife Sarah, listed in the 1900 census. This Sarah, however, was born in about 1870 - most likely too young to be the mother of your Sidney. And they only list a son Julius. Interestingly Aron was a music professor.
