RUSSIA/GERMANY>ENGLAND Alfred and Mod Levy circa 1900

In the 1901 British Census, our Morris and Annie Vishnik lived in Whitechapel, London, and the household included two boarders:

Alfred Levy, aged 30, born Germany, Eng. subject

Mod Levy, aged 22, born Russia, Eng. subject

I am wondering whether Mod was a man or a woman? And were the Levy's siblings or spouses?

This matters to us because Morris' daughter Sarah married an Alphonse Levy, who was age 24 in
1920 (born about 1896). Was he related to these boarders?

Alphonse was, according to the 1920 US census, born in Calif, his mother born in France, and his
father born in Calif. Alphonse passed away in the 1920's.

Does anyone recognize these Levy's?
