Trying to find info on my grandfather, PLEASE HELP

I have started doing my family tree. Unfortunately I have hit a roadblock.

I am 45 years old. My father had me when he was 53.

His father had already passed.

I knew nothing about him.

His name was Louis Albert Levy. He lived at 1114 Forest Avenue in the Bronx, NY, NY in 1911, the year my father was born.

He was married to Bessie May Bushong. She was born in Lancaster, PA.

Here's the tough part:

My dad's family changed their last name from Levy to Lee to avoid persecution.

They did that sometime between 1920 and 1930, since the1920 census I found has them using Levy and living in New York.

The 1930 census has them in Philadelphia using the name Lee.

My father's name was Melvin Albert Levy, changed to Melvin Albert Lee.

It appears that Louis Albert Levy was either 1 years old and immigrated to NY or was born there.....I cannot get a handle around the details.

According to records I have found, he was born around 1879 or 1880, in either NY or Russia. Both his parents were from Russia according to notes on census paperwork.

If anyone out there can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
