We are related in a very distant way. John A. Lewallen was married to my GG-grandmother, Mary Ann Hamilton. She married John Empson/Empstead, then John Lewallen, then my GG-grandfather, Melvin Lafayette Brigance. During or after the civil war Melvin changed their name to Brigham (he changed sides during the war and perhaps didn't want to be found). E-mail me or I'll e-mail you and we can exchange info. I'm interested in the picture you mentioned of Scott's grandmother (my GG-grandmother Mary Ann). Harley is wrong, John couldn't have died in the Civil War, it didn't start until the 1860's.
