Donald, my wife's GG-Grandfather was Meshack Llewellyn Jones, daughter of Laura Keith Llewellyn, b. ca. 1806, KY, and James Jones. In the LewellAn Forum it was suggested that Laura's father was Meshack Lewellyn who married a Nancy Whitesides. Since Meshack (nor Shadrach nor Abednego!) is not a Jones family name, this would make a lot of sense to me. Whitesides relationships are pretty common with the Jones/Whaley clan in question as well.
