Was your Mary Jane Lewallen (Jackson)the daughter of Monroe Washington Lewallen? Monroe was the son of Daniel Luallen who married Elizabeth Lain/Layne. Several of us descendants of Daniel Luallen have been trying for years to learn the connection between Daniel and Richard Luallen and Gracie Stokeley. Daniel who fathered Monroe and Charles (who married Caltha and died before 1859) could not have been the Daniel listed in the survivors of Richard Luallen because of the age. Richard's son Daniel was a minor in 1833 and Daniel father of Charles and Monroe was married and had fathered 10 children by 1833.
There are Kilgores intermarried with the Laynes in TN so I am interested in the marriage of James Kilgore and Sally Stockley.
One other thought we have entertained is that perhaps Richard had a wife before Gracie since he was 30 years of age when they maried. If so then perhaps Daniel Luallen father of Charles and Monroe could have been the child of that wife. Sometimes a name was repeated in children of different mothers.
