I am trying to locate the parents of John Lewellen (various spellings) who married Priscilla Harris, daughter of Wiley and Elizabeth Hearne Harris, probably in Randolph County , N.C. They all were in Wilson Co., Tn by l8l6-l8l8 and then moved to Madison Co., Tn in the early l800's. Priscilla was born c. l790 and assume John born NC was born about that time. However, he died young and have never been able to find his parents. I think they had sons Wiley and Alfred Lewellen. and maybe three more children but don't know their names. Unfortunately Priscilla died in l868 in Henderson Co., Tn. , and the courthouse burned and the records were lost. She was in the household of Alfred in the l850 Henderson Co., Tn. census and next door was Wiley married to a Sarah. I think Wiley's first wife was Catherine Paine/Payne and they married in Madison Co.
If you have any of these names, I would love to hear from you. The Lewellen name is frustrating to search due to the various spellings.
I wish you luck on getting your information corrected. I have run into the same thing on my Harris line but the people never change it.
