Lewallen Book, DNA Tests, etc.

Many years ago I compiled a book entitled “Llewellyn, Lewallen, Luallin, etc., etc.” A limited number were printed and sold and I’ve had numerous requests for copies since. Recently I finished retyping the book, leaving off names of those born after 1930 and have put the book on a Llewellyn, Lewallen, Lewelling, Luallin, Lewellen, etc. MyFamily.com site. The book has about 200 pages filled with genealogies, census records, book excerpts, newspaper items, birth, death and marriage records, and anything at all I could find on individuals with the various Llewellyn, Lewellyn, Lewelling, Lewallen, Lewellen, Luallin, etc spellings.

The MyFamily site was started as a place to store that book and also as a place where those of us researching the various surnames can discuss our ancestors, share thoughts on them and try to find connections since often spelling of the name changed. It doesn’t cost to be a member, however, since MyFamily sites are “private,” it does require an invitation to get on and if you will contact me, I’ll gladly send one to you.

We also plan to start DNA testing in an effort to try to connect some of the families and if any male with the surname of Lewallen or its variations is interested in doing a DNA, also please get in touch with me. As most of you probably know by now, a male has a certain Y chromosome which he passes to his sons and those sons pass to their sons, on down. A female doesn’t carry the Y chromosome so it would take a male with the Llewellyn/ Lewallen/ Luallen, etc. surname to do the test. There’s good information on the internet about genealogical DNA testing so if you aren’t familiar with it, you can do a Google or Yahoo search on that subject.

I’m hopeful that you’ll join us. My e-mail address is halnbillie@sbcglobal.net.
