Mary [Dawson] Lewelling

I am looking for information on Mary Dawson (b abt 1740) who married William Lewelling (Llewellyn, Lewellin)in about 1759 and lived in Randolph County, NC. I am trying to find out more about her to see if she might be related to the Dawson family of Cumberland, NC I have been working on.

Although I have usually seen William Lewelling listed as the son of Jesse Lewallen (b.1689 in Virginia) I have also seen him listed as the son or brother of Jonathan Lewelling and his wife Ruth (maiden name unknown).

Jonathan Lewelling starts showing up in Bladen County, NC deeds in 1741 along with Geoffrey (Jeffrey) Dawson and the two families seem allied (buying and selling land to each other and witnessing deeds together) through the 1750's.

Geoffrey Dawson had a sole surviving heir (according to a 1752 deed) in Cumberland (formerly Bladen) County NC. This heir was his eldest son William Dawson. William and his wife Frances had three sons that I know of (Joseph, William Jr. and Jonathan) born in the mid 1740s though the 1750's in Cumblerland. Like Geoffrey, William Dawson and Jonathan Lewelling are found together on several deeds.

I am just wondering if the Mary Dawson who married William Lewelling might have been an older Dawson daughter of William and Frances Dawson that I had never run across before. If it were the case this might help to explain the ties between the Dawson and Lewelling families from this time period.

Also, Geoffrey Dawson is mentioned as being from Wales as I believe Jonathan Lewelling was.

Anyway, if anyone has some information to share on Mary Dawson I would love to learn more about her.
