Would like to share/compare info with anyone who is researching Jordan Lewis b. abt. 1834 in Va. According to family lore, he died in 1865 in Claiborne Co., Tn during the civil war. According to American Civil War Soldies, Jordan Lewis enlisted April 10, 1862 in Lee Co., Va. and died Nov. 29, 1863 in Jonesville, Lee Co., Tn. Jordan can be found on the 1850 Lee Co. census with Matilda Lewis, who should be his grandmother (she was supposed to be the wife of William Irvin Lewis). Jordan was supposed to of married Elizabeth Burton who was b. abt. 1837 in Va. According to sources, they had children Evan S. b. abt. 1855 Va., Margaret b. abt. 1857 Va., William b. abt. 1859 Va., Charles Nathanial b. abt. 1862 Va. and Mary E. b. abt. 1865 Va. On the 1880 Lee Co. census, Charles N. and Mary E. are enumerated as grandchildren in the household of Matilda Lewis. According to Va. marriage records, Elizabeth Lewis married Rufus Leedy on Dec. 27, 1870 in Lee Co. and they are on the 1880 Lee Co. census. Any info appreciated on this Lewis family. Gladly will share what info I have. Thanks in advance.
