Lewis-Adams connection VA or GA

My ancestor James Adams was born in GA circa 1816. He died in Cherokee or Etowah Co. AL in 1873. He named a son Joseph Lewis Adams. A daughter named her son James Lewis Snead.

Enoch Adams was born in GA circa 1820. He was in Cherokee Co. AL at the 1850 census He was in Arkansas at the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses. He named a son John Lewis. At the 1880 census he said that his parents had been born in VA.

I believe but cannot prove that James Adams and Enoch Adams were brothers.

Because of the use of the surname Lewis as a middle name in this family, I theorize that perhaps the mother or grandmother of James and Enoch had the maiden name Lewis.

Does anyone have information about a Lewis woman born in VA who married an Adams? Since both of Enoch;s parents were born in VA, my guess is that the marriage would have taken pace there or else that the families migrated together.

Does anyone have any information that would help here?
