It appears that Jacob Beeson's son, HENRY W., succeeded his father in the store in 1818, and that he soon withdrew and the father and another son, ISAAC, continued the business until Nov. 31, 1819, when a dissolution took effect. JACOB BEESON died Feb. 13, 1820.His widow (JACOB'S second wife JUDITH ANN BROUGHTON) subsequently married a MR. (JOHN F.) LEWIS and later moved to Niles, Michigan, where she died in (March 26), 1869.
JACOB married (2) JUDITH ANN BROUGHTON
JUDITH was born Sept. 8, 1784 Hardy Co., WV.
JUDITH died March 26, 1869 in Niles, Michigan at the hme of her son, STROTHER M. BEESON. He built the mausoleum and her name is inscribed over the door “JUDITH ANN LEWIS”. It is believed she was first buried in the Old City Cemetery (Lacey Cemetery) and later moved to the vault.
JUDITH was the daughter of WILLIAM & HANNAH BROUGHTON.
JUDITH later married JOHN F. LEWIS who died 1824 (two years after her marriage).
INFO FOUND ON FIND A GRAVE:
JUDITH'S NAME: JUDITH ANN BROUGHTON BEESON – LEWIS
About 1830, she moved to Niles with her daughter, PHOEBE, about 3 years old at the time. Her sons, JACOB, JOB J., and WILLIAM B. were in Niles. STROTHER M. was in South Bend. WILLIAM B. had a home built for her, located at the west end of the Main Street bridge. For many years it was used by the VFW. The stately home was torn down to make way for the newer YMCA. Part of the stone wall remains at the very end of the Main Street Bridge, 2012. JUDITH is buried at Beeson Mausoleum, Niles, Michigan.
