The arms of the Lewkenor monument in St.Andrew's church, West Dean, Sussex, as noted in 1910:
High up on left: Lewkenor and Benet
High up on right: Lewkenor and Brome
In centre: Lewkenor and Oglander and another
The large achievement
1.Lewkenor, 2.Dallingrige, 3.Tregoz, 4.Culpepper, 5.Camoys, 6.Bardolfe, 7.Gournau, 8.Etchingham, 9.Gronsted, 10.Audley and Touchet, 11.Moyne, 12.Doyle, 13.Bruse,14.Goring, 15.Poyning.

St.Andrew's Church was badly damaged by fire in 1934. The splendid alabaster monument to three members of the Lewkenor family: Sir Richard, Chief Justice of Chester (1540-1616), with his son, Richard (1570-1602) and grandson, also Richard (1589-1635), together with associated arms, were almost totally destroyed.

I write "associated" as the only ladies from whom these Richards are descended are, as far as I have found: Bardolph, D'Oyley, Carewe, Dalingridge, Camoys, West(de la Warre), Tirrel, Brome and Bennett. I do not know the name of the first Richard's first wife, although I know that it is believed by someone who has done considerable research on this family to be Oglander. Oglander is also the name of Eleanor Brome/Lewkenor (wife of second Richard)'s second husband. The first Richard's second wife was Margaret Atkyns, widow of Stephen Hadnall.
