Some traditions apparently survived
until early in the 20th century. My grand-
father, John son of Micah, would not
eat pork nor do any work, other than
tending his animals, on Saturday. He
was not religiously observant and was
a skeptic, but very ethical and proud of
his Jewish ancestry. At least one of
his cousins, David, was an observant
Jew late in the 19th century. There are
Lousadas , Louzadas in Britain who
are practicing Jews, others are members
of the Church of England. John F Luzader
