I am inclined to accept Elisabeth, Catherine, Rachel, John, Isaac, Abel, and Andrew as children of Rebecca and Andrew. However, I am inclined to include Mariah, too, but I need to do more work on that. It is interesting to note in the 1850 census of Fountain Co. that Thomas J. then 12 is living in the home of John Vanhook and wife Elizabeth. They are both in their early 20's. Right next door is Isaac Luzader with his wife Rachel and their two little ones and about five households further down the road is the home of Samuel Prevo and Mary. Their household has Samuel 51, Mary 50, James 21, Samuel 13, Elisha 9,and Elias 7. None of these would seem to be Andrew and Mary's. By this time Andrew '35 is living with the Millers. Probably got shoved out when his mother remarried, if this is his mother. We know that Thomas is with the Vanhooks. However, in 1840 when there was no husband in the household, Isaac 14 was probably the oldest boy at home. She did not farm him out as she no doubt needed him to help with the family. John 20 must have been living with some other family since the oldest boy listed was just between 10 and 15. Isaac I assume. I'm wondering where Samuel and Mary are in 1860. I haven't pursued that.
In looking at the household of Benjamin Vanhook in 1840, the oldest female as well as the oldest male are listed between 15-20. Both Benjamin and Rachel must have been quite young when they married in 1839. I had wondered why Thomas wasn't with them but perhaps Thomas was farmed out before Benjamin and Rachel were even married. Anyway he is with John Vanhook and Elizabeth. John (23) may be a brother to Benjamin.
