Again i have to respectfully disagree. There WERE cherokees and Creeks at that time however they were known mostly as Iroquois at that time. Once they began branching out, they started their own tribes and such.. Cherokee and Creek were both descendants from the Iroquois..My husband was a Native American studies major at WVU so I know a great deal about this kind of stuff. That and the fact that I claim native heritage myself :) AS a matter of fact, Cherokee occupied much of the western part of Virginia (which would now be southern parts of West Virginia)There were also several tribes living in Maryland since the 1600's. One of them being the Piscataway which were very close friends to the Iroquois. The Iroquois did also..I also responded to another post of yours that Sarah Cole was also referred to as Sarah Cole Little Bear or Sarah Cole Bear. It is presumed that her mother, Elizabeth, was white. So with everything that I have said, It is NOT that farfetched that she is Native heritage..in fact, I would almost bet on it!
