I am looking for information about my paternal G-G-G-GF, John B. L'Huillier. I have old early photos of him and his wife made by the Mandeville Co. of Lowville, NY. On the back of the pictures is handwritten: "John B. L'Huillier/Born Mar. 6, 1828/Denya, France" and "Elizabeth C. Lee/Born 1831." I remember my great-grandfather, Harold L. Lhuillier, telling me that this John B. L'Huillier's father brought the family over from France & that John's son, Leon Alexis, changed the spelling to "Lhuillier" when he became a pharmacist and moved to Pleasnaton, Linn Co. Kansas in the late 1800s. It has also been speculated that "John B." might have been an Americanization of "Jean-Baptiste," "Denya" might have been an immigration offical's phonetic spelling of a town in France(?), and that Elizabeth C. Lee might have been the sister of another of my ancestors, Dr. Cornelius Peter Lee (b. Herkimer Co., NY).

Any information that anyone has on John B. L'Huillier's or Elizabeth C. Lee L'Huillier's ancestry, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
