Rod, thanks for your response. Unfortunately, I do not have any information at this time on the Lides. I am not sure that Grandmother Eliza was a Lide but it appears that she may have been.
I found some notes a long time ago at the Darlington Historical Commission (SC) made by Mr. Horace Rudisill (recentley passed away) that she may have been a Lide or Linton. I am not sure why he thought this. I have not been able to find anything to lean toward the Lintons. However, I did find the baptismal record of her daughter, Emma Cross. It listed the mother as Eliza Hyde. This may have been but due to the record being transcribed at this time I am leaning toward the fact that it might have been transcribed wrong. I am trying to see if someone can look at original (if it can be found) to verify spelling.
It is a possibility that she may have gone by Jane. It appears that her name was Eliza Jane.
I am still going on a lot of speculation and looking in all the different directions. I really want to confirm her maiden name and hopefully find her famiy. She has been a brick wall in our family research for probably 40 years or more.
I appreciate your willingness to share but at this point I'm not sure what I need. I need to confirm her maiden name and then go from there. I would like to stay in touch so that maybe we can connect if I verify that she indeed was a Lide. I would appreciate you keeping her in mind in case you run across her in your research. If she can be found then maybe I can provide more recent information for you also.
Again, thank you so much for your interest in helping each other.
