C.C. Lide of Carlowville was my great uncle, brother to William Knox Lide, my maternal grandfather. The Lides removed to Carlowville from the Society Hill/Darlington District of S.C. in 1833 and have quite a history in both communitys. Uncle Charley lived all his life in Carlowville, was the postal carrier in that rural community. He and Aunt Hattie lived in the original Lide house built by James Lide, his great uncle, in 1830's until his death. You may contact me if you like at 352 326-8075.
