Robert Lide's Father?
Posted by: Ken Taylor Date: March 31, 2000 at 17:38:10

While on a recent research trip to Darlington County, SC I discovered a chart by Charles B. Lide of Aiken, SC.
It indicates that Major Robert Lide's father is John Lide and mother Sarah Duke. it also has a bit of early family history. The John Lide family lived on the Manner Plantation located on the north side of the Roanoke River in Bertie County, NC. (Recent information from Mr. Rudisill of Darlington indicates that Robert was born on the north side of the Roanoke River, NC rather than Roanoke, VA.) This plantation was left to Robert by John and land records in Northampton County(Formerly Bertie County) document the sale in 1755 of the "Manner Plantation" By Robert Lide of Craven County, SC.

Mary Duke(Sister of Sarah Duke Lide) married John Crawford, who became Major Lide's maternal uncle by marriage. Thus Gregg's statement "Roberet Lide was brought to the PeeDee by a maternal uncle, John Craford."
I'd say that failry well establishes the parentage of Major Robert Lide. What do you think?
