I was through the Lowther's Hill Cemetary some 30 years ago and found the cemetary vandalized as you reported. I then went to Darlington and mentioned it to the curator of the Darlington Historical Societh - a Mr. Rudisell - (not sure of the spelling) and he confirmed that indeed the cemetary had been vandalized but that the headstones were in storage in the yard of the society headquarters. I saw them there. He reported that a benefactor had agreed to finance the restoration but I do not know if that was ever done. I took some pictures and have them on file somewhere. I also have pictures of the cemetary before it was vandalized with some closeups of some headstones. Any interest?

Roderick
