Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
It is my understanding that the name, however spelt--Ligate, Legat, Legett, Ligit, Ligget, Liggett, etc. had the same source, but in the days before everyone could write, the name was spelt as the listener heard it whether it was the minister, the rent collector, the customs official, or the census taker. I am interested in Liggetts of any spelling from County Tyrone, Ireland before 1850.
