Rose Mary, Since my orginal response I have discovered that my Henry Lightner b 1798 (christened as Heinrich Leitner) in Baltimore MD married Martha A. Roberts in 1819 and had 16 children. So far I know about 4 of them, no George. However the time frame for your George's birth is right in with the other children I have. I am awaiting translations from Zion German Lutheran Church where he was Christened and married and his children were Christened. If there is a George I will contact you. Have found there is a strong history of the name George in Henry's family back to the 1500's in Germany. He may also have had a brother here in Baltimore which could be your George's father. Anyway you slice it I am pretty sure we are related as the Leitners who came here from PA tpo Baltimore all were. Henry was the drummer boy at Ft McHenry during the war of 1812 and was present for the bombardment when Fransis Scott Key wrote our national anthem. His father Michael Leiter was a drummer boy during the Revolutionary War befre him. Henry was a tinner by trade and at least one of his sons followed him into the business. The history available on Henry's family goes back to 1300 and is extraordinary! I hope we find you are his descendant as well, as I will have some great stuff to share with you! Please feel free to email me directl at firstname.lastname@example.org
