Henry Lightner, b:1844-1874 ?? (1875-1919 Pennsylvania)
I'm hoping some one can help me!! I can not figure out which family line my gg grandfather, Henry Lightner, (Leightner, Leglitner, Leighleitner, Leighlitner) came from. I have no idea who his parents or siblings are, or who his 1st wife was? I’ve never seen a middle name or initial for him.
He was born August 1844 according to 1900 census, 1847 according to the family tombstone.
1880 and 1900 census stated Henry and his parents were born in Germany immigrating to USA in 1844
1910 census stated Henry was born in New York and his parents were born in Germany. 1942 two of his sons Charles and John both applied for a delayed birth certificates and listed “Henry” their father’s birthplace as Lewis County, New York.
Background on his 2nd wife….Sarah (maiden name unknown)was born in Germany. Her 1st marriage was to Lorenz Mochel (spelling variations - Lawrence Mockel) who was born in France or Germany about 1835 and they had 4 children; Caroline in December 1866, Fredrick Jacob about 1868, Katherine about 1870 and Louisa in October 1872. Lorenz died in December 1872 specifying in his last will and testament that Sarah have entire control of the family home and land they lived on in Sarver, Buffalo Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania as long as she lives, then it is to be divided equally among his children at her death.
Henry and Sarah married about 1875. He had 4 sons, Daniel about 1876, Charles Adam in February 1888, George Fred in October 1890 and John Albert in November 1898. They remained in Sarver, Pennsylvania until about 1905 then moved to Harrison Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
He worked as a stone mason in 1880 and a farmer in 1900 was retired in 1910
1919 - Henry Lightner died according to the family tombstone in Mount Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania - but they have no record of him being buried there. I can not find an obituary for him either.
1914 Sarah Mochel Lightner died. I can not find an obituary or place of burial for her or her 1st husband either.
Do any of these dates or places sound familiar to anyone?
