Lightner Family, Lancaster County PA

My late wife was the daughter of Milton Turnley Lightner and Elise d'Este. Her father was born in 1880 in Chicago, IL, the son of Milton Clarkson Lightner and Mary Rutter Turnley. He died in Riverside, CA in either 1936 or 1937. Her mother died in Riverside, CA in 1980. While cleaning out her house we came across some items which may be of interest. One of these was a private communion set which had belonged to the Rev. Edwin Nathaniel Lightner, an Episcopal priest born in Lancaster, PA about 1816. He was apparently the father of Milton Clarkson Lightner. With this set was a brief statement to the effect that he was one of five generations of Episcopal priests. From the data I have been able to develop he was the son of Nathaniel Ferree Lightner.

We also found a small booklet entitled "In Memoriam, Rev. Milton Clarkson Lightner, M.A.". This booklet shows that this Milton Clarkson Lighnet was born in 1820, was ordained as a priest in 1846 and served parishes in PA, NY, MI and finally in CA where he died in 1880. Since Milton Turnley Lightner was not born until 1885 this Milton Clarkson Lightner could not have been his father. I have been trying to determine if the Rev. Edwin N. Lightner and the Rev. Milton Clarkson Lightner were brothers and, if so, more information about their background.
