Does anyone know why the name Clarkson was so popular as a middle name in the Lightner family in the early 19th century? My second great grandfather, Edward Clarkson Dorsey, was the son of William E. Dorsey and Catherine M. Lightner of the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Lightners.
