Origin of the Like Name

For the Northern Branch (NY) of the Like family it appears that the name that came from Germany was Van Slyke. Over the years it became Slyke, then Lyke, and finally Like.

There are many families that kept the each name. It is possible to find families where siblings carry each surname.
