Also personally appeared William Maise, aged seventy years, residing at Pine Island street in Goodhue Co Minnesota and Mrs. Eliza Fonzo aged 69 years residing at No. Milton street, in Dodge Co., Minnesota, persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who, being by me duly sworn, say that the have known the said Abraham Lyke for fifty years and 50 years respectively: that they were present and saw him sign his name (or make his mark) to the forgoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe from the appearance of the said claimant and their acquaintance with him, that he is the identical person he represents himself to be; and they further say that they are able to identify him as the identical person who rendered the service alleged in the above application (in the company of Captain Jordan, in the Columbian Art. In the war of 1812) by the following named facts and circumstances, viz: That we have heard both Abraham Lyke and his neighbors say at various times that he and his father Jerome (ed. Jerone) Lyke were in said war of 1812 and also heard of Pension Agts wanting him to apply for pension, but his Father told him before he died never to ask for a pension as long as he could do without and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim
