Thanks so much for writing back, in response to my "thesis" I wrote last night.I'm glad you had a chance to talk with Wanda Rae. Please give her my warmest regards.I was glad to know that she had visited the ranch, and had discovered that the fence around the cemetery had been knocked down. She has been so diligent & faithful in trying to preserve the family history, and deserves a lot of thanks from all of us.
It's just like G.B. to have a new fence put up.Our Grandmother Minnie, his mother, Aunt Weavie, my Mother and Daddy, are all buried in the main cemetery there in Eden.Quite a few years ago, G.B. noticed that there was no maintenance at all, so he had a lot of work done there to clean up the gravesites, and stonework. (And continues to do so)
Once I started really thinking back about my childhood, the memories just seemed to tumble out helter/skelter.However, since I'm 64 now, it's quite evident that "many moons" have passed since I thought about my family life when I was THAT young.Ha! Ha!
After I wrote last night, I remembered that "Uncle Boy" was a Kemp, and must have been my Grandmother Minnie's brother.Tell Wanda 'thanks' for giving me his correct name. He owned a gasoline service station in Paint Rock; I can remember inside the little grocery store there at his station, he had quite a few glass-window display cabinets, with all sorts of candy & snacks, etc.Since I was so young, I thought it was like being in a fairy tale, to be able to pick out any kind of candy I wanted.
Grandmother also had a sister, Nellie, who lived in Ballinger, who we used to go visit from time to time.
Aunt Nellie had one daughter, Frances & son-in-law, who also lived in Ballinger.I believe his last name was "Zappe" .... however, I have no idea if that is the correct spelling.Their daugter's name was Patricia.
I'm planning to call G.B. this weekend, and talk with him about "old" times.Maybe he will know how my grandparents came to be living on the ranch.
I was very sorry to hear about Bruce's death. The next time you speak with Aunt Thelma, please give her my love, and tell her I asked about her. Also, please extend my regards to Faye.
I found a note I made in November 1996, that I had received a package from a "Rob Walker" in Edmond, Oklahoma, regarding the Linam/Kemp/Walker family connections.I still have to find the actual brown envelope, though. As soon as I do, I will call Wanda Rae to see if this man ever found out her name & address, etc.If not, I will send her the information.
Yes, definitely, let's keep in touch! Thanks again for answering me so soon.
Warmest regards,Betty Aillet-Jackson
