Location of George Linam's Grave in South Carolina
Has anyone been to George Linam's plantation in Union County, SC, lately? I recently visited the area and tried without success to locate the family graveyard and the old cite of Linam's Mill on the Tyger River. George was buried there, and I wanted to find the grave.
The area is heavily forested, with very few roads. As far as I could tell, the cite is somewhere between Highway 72 and the Tuckertown Road, and is on the Tyger River. The graveyard is supposed to be on the bluff above the river, with nothing but one unreadable stone standing. I could not venture into the forest because it was too thick (and it was deer season).
Next time, I will go in November instead of April (so I don't have to bring a machette). With all the rain, I would have had an easier time reaching it by boat.
