It gets worse. There are many more Daniels. And no guarantee that we got it right.
The OCHS in Taunton has a reference that the line is:
Thomas-1 the miller
John-2 b. c1633 m. Edith Macomber
John-3 b. 1665
Daniel-4 b. c1690m. Abigail Nichols
Daniel-5 b. c1720 Taunton m. Mary Shores
Daniel-5 b. 1763 in Taunton m. Eunice Bragg
However, court documents for the widow and children of Daniel-5 refer to him as "Daniel Lincoln III", so perhaps instead of John-3, there is a Daniel there.
All of these Daniels were born in Taunton. There is no Daniel Perez Lincoln to my knowledge.Perez is a son of Daniel-5, as proven from a Bristol County court document awarding custody of him to his mother, after his father died.Incredulous as it may seem, she had to go to court to get custody of her 8 children to prove that she could support them.
There are other Daniels interwoven in the first 4 or 5 generations, and it has been difficult to sort them. This is one reason why we chose first and middle names for our daughter that are unique to our family.
