The HOOT Middle Name in the Linebarger Family

Hello Linebarger/Linebarger Genealogists,

Iím wondering where Michael Linebargerís middle name HOOT (born 20 August 1819 in Lincoln County, NC, died 25 November 1891 in AR) came from? I have an ancestor named Susannah Hoot Reed (b. January/February 1812, d. 20 October 1888), who was a daughter of Daniel Linebarger, a son of Peter Linebarger from Lincoln County NC. She was the wife of William Reed. This middle name is taken from a handwritten family record compiled by her great-grandson, Lee Boyd Honeycutt, who is now deceased. This seems to go back to the family relationship between the Huth and Linebarger families, but I donít know. If this has already been discussed, please direct me to the archive and pardon the repetition. Thanks for your help!
