Beth, I'm descended from the Arkansas Linebargers of Independence County. I know there's another branch of the family in the northwest of the state that goes back to the early nineteenth century also. I know the family lived in western North Carolina (Lincoln and Gaston Counties)before trekking to Arkansas in the 1820's and 30's. The best sources I've seen show the family coming to America in 1735 on the Billander Oliver from Rotterdam. They were listed as Swiss. Geneology is a can of worms only as good as your sources butI'd be glad to share what I have.
